Students to Get Full Marks for Leaked Questions in Cambridge Exams

CIE officials, including Country Director Uzma Yousuf, admitted there had been partial leaks involving three exam papers.

A subcommittee of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Education expressed dissatisfaction with the findings of Cambridge Assessment International Education (CIE) regarding the recent O and A level exam paper leak. The meeting, chaired by MNA Sabheen Ghoury, was held on Monday to review the issue.

CIE officials, including Country Director Uzma Yousuf, admitted there had been partial leaks involving three exam papers.

One question from AS & A Level Mathematics Paper 12, parts of two questions from Paper 42, and a portion of one question from Computer Science Paper 22 were reportedly shared before the exams. However, the officials said there was no evidence that full papers were leaked.

To address the issue, Cambridge has promised to award full marks to students for the affected questions. But committee members were not satisfied. They criticized the report for failing to identify those responsible for the leaks or explain how they occurred.

MNA Ghoury stated that the panel wants justice for students and urged CIE to consult with parents and students before the next meeting on June 30. She added that while a retake isn’t preferred, any student opting for one in October should not be charged. Further recommendations will be presented to the main committee.
