Karachi: Pakistan Wapda emerged as the champions of the 24th National Men’s Netball Championship 2024-25, defeating Pakistan Navy 20-17 in a thrilling final at the PSB Coaching Center in Karachi. The tournament, organized by the Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) in collaboration with the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and Sindh Netball Association, saw intense competition from various teams across the country.
The final match was a closely contested affair, with both teams putting up strong performances. The match began with a tie in the first quarter (7-7), but Wapda gained a slight edge in the second quarter, leading 5-6. Pakistan Navy fought back in the second quarter, edging ahead with a 6-5 score, but Wapda regained control with a commanding performance in the third quarter (7-2). Navy made a valiant attempt to close the gap in the final quarter, but Wapda held their ground, winning 20-17.
Outstanding performances from Wapda players Muhammad Zain, Samad Masood, Umair Hussain, and Mansoor Kham were key to their victory in the final match.
In the third-place playoff, Pakistan Police defeated Sindh by a narrow margin of 16-15 to secure third position. The match was also closely contested, with Police trailing Sindh in the first half but making a strong comeback in the second half. Police won the final two quarters by a margin of 13-6 to seal the victory.
Final Rankings: 1st: Pakistan Wapda
2nd: Pakistan Navy
3rd: Pakistan Police
4th: Sindh
The closing ceremony was graced by Malik Sameen Khan, President of the Pakistan Netball Federation, and Mr. Ahmed Ali Rajput, Secretary of the Sindh Olympic Association, who distributed trophies, medals, and certificates to the players and teams. Also present were Mr. Mudassar Arain, Chairman of the PNF, Muhammad Riaz, Secretary of PNF, Shoail Ahmed, Treasurer of PNF, and other dignitaries.
The tournament also saw an impressive performance from the technical officials, including Anwar Ahmed, Yasir, Quratul Ain, Nisha Sultan, Karima Bano, Yumna Malik, Zahoor Baig, Adnan Ghouri, Nazakat Khan, Fatima Ansari, Iqra Shafiq, Areesha, Aira, Shazia Yousaf, and Hoorulain, who ensured the smooth conduct of the matches.
