U19 Asia Cup 2024: Pakistan defeats India by 44 runs
Pakistan registered an impressive start to their U19 Asia Cup campaign, dominating both with the bat and the ball.
Dubai: Pakistan’s U19 cricket team secured a dominant 44-run victory over arch-rivals India in the third match of the U19 Asia Cup on Saturday. The victory was powered by a stunning 159-run knock from Shahzaib Khan and a resilient 60 from Usman Khan, helping Pakistan post a competitive total of 281/7.
Shahzaib Khan’s blistering innings of 159 off 147 balls was the highlight of Pakistan’s batting effort. He hammered five boundaries and 10 sixes, anchoring the team’s total. Usman Khan supported well with a solid knock of 60 off 94 balls, which included six boundaries.
In response, India’s chase fell short as they were all out for 238 inside 48 overs. Nikhil Kumar top-scored for India with a gritty 67 off 77 balls, which included six boundaries and three sixes. Mohamed Enaan contributed with a quick-fire 30 off 22 balls before being run out by Saad Baig.
Pakistan’s bowlers were clinical, with Ali Raza leading the charge with three wickets. Abdul Subhan (2-46) and Fahamul Haq (2-41) also made significant contributions, taking two wickets each. Naveed Ahmed Khan (1-56) and Saad Baig (1-21) added a wicket apiece to help Pakistan seal the victory.

India’s bowlers fought hard, with Samarth Nagaraj (3-45) being the standout performer, while Ayush Mhatre (2-30) and Yudhajit Guha (1-46) also chipped in with wickets. However, it was not enough to stop Pakistan from claiming a comprehensive win.
