MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet has approved a historic health package worth Rs 94 crore, aimed at improving the health system in the region. The cabinet also decided to form a broad-based consultative committee to address concerns over the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Ordinance. This committee will comprise civil society, lawyers, political leaders, scholars, government representatives, and others.
The cabinet also lifted the ban on recruitment from Grade 1 to Grade 16, which is expected to benefit many job seekers in the region. Information Minister Pir Muhammad Mazhar Saeed Shah announced that subsidies on flour and electricity will continue, and those who mislead the public with rumors will fail.
The health package will increase the number of technical staff and specialist doctors in the health sector. A doctor will be provided in every Basic Health Unit (BHU) and Rural Health Center (RHC). Nursing schools will be established in all three divisions, and a burn center will be established in Kotli.
Health Minister Dr. Nisar Ansar Abdali stated that 95% of technical, supporting, and specialist staff will be appointed under the health package. First aid posts will be regularized, and the shortage of doctors in BHU will be eliminated. The number of doctors will be increased in major hospitals in the cities.
The cabinet’s decisions are seen as a significant step towards improving the health and well-being of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The government has also guaranteed the protection of the lives and property of the people.
In addition to the health package, the cabinet also approved several other initiatives, including the establishment of training programs for youth to eliminate unemployment. The government is also working to increase the tax target and continue subsidies on flour and electricity.

Finance Minister Abdul Majid Khan stated that the development scale of the people of Azad Kashmir is better than others according to the Human Rights Index. The government is financially stable and willing to negotiate. The lower class of society will be represented in the wide-ranging negotiation committee.
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has been working to improve the health infrastructure in the region. The Health Department has expanded and evolved its healthcare infrastructure to meet the growing needs of the community ¹. The government has also approved the Essential Package of Health Services with localized evidence ².
