Tourism Festival to Showcase AJK’s Hidden Gems

 

Rawalakot-(Special Correspondent)-Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar ul Haque, has unveiled ambitious plans to boost tourism in the Poonch division, which he believes will transform the region’s destiny. Speaking at a function organized by the District Bar Association in Rawalkot, the PM emphasized the importance of raising the standard of living for the local population to eliminate feelings of deprivation. He proposed hosting a tourism festival to showcase the region’s beauty and announced a mega tourism project to establish a tourism corridor, which would change the fortunes of the region ¹.

The PM termed Toli Peer Road as a game-changer, with work currently underway. He stressed the need to avoid activities detrimental to tourism and the local population’s well-being, while acknowledging the right to peaceful protest. Chaudhry Anwar ul Haque expressed satisfaction with the existing infrastructure and committed to further improvements.

During his address, the PM reaffirmed his dedication to public welfare, highlighting the government’s efforts to establish rule of law and merit-based governance. He rejected racism, regionalism, and tribalism, noting that Azad Kashmir’s facilities surpass those in other Pakistani provinces. The PM also referenced the contrast between his region’s peaceful atmosphere and the climate of fear in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Chaudhry Anwar ul Haque announced a grant of 30 lakh rupees for the District Bar Association Rawalkot. The event was attended by senior ministers, government officials, and members of the bar.

Separately, while visiting Poonch Medical College Rawalkot, the PM emphasized the importance of the medical sector and pledged to fill faculty shortages. He stressed the need for quality education and committed to fulfilling the medical college’s requirements. The PM appreciated the faculty’s performance and acknowledged the government’s efforts to enhance health infrastructure.

In a meeting with delegations from Union Council Singola and Fakhr, the PM assured that Rawalkot’s fertile land would be utilized for the people’s welfare. He prioritized solving basic problems, ensuring provision of basic facilities, including health, education, and road infrastructure.

As the 15th Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar ul Haque brings a wealth of experience, having served as Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and a member of the assembly since 2006 ¹. His commitment to public welfare and tourism development is expected to bring positive change to the region.
