PTI Protests Disrupt Public Transport in Lahore
Metro Bus Service Limited; Lorry Adda Operations Halted Amid Road Blockages

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called for protests in Lahore, resulting in significant disruptions to the city’s public transport services. The Metro bus system is currently operating on a limited route, running between Gajjumata and MAO College, while the segment from MAO to Shahdara has been suspended due to road blockages.
In addition, Lorry Adda’s inter-city bus operations have been completely halted as authorities have closed off all major roads leading into and out of Lahore.
Despite the protests, the Orange Line train service has been fully restored and is running normally. However, the restrictions on public transport are a direct response to the PTI-led demonstrations, which have prompted heavy police presence and barricades around key protest areas such as Minar-e-Pakistan and Shahdara.
Containers have been positioned on vital roads, including Lower Mall, Greater Iqbal Park, Ravi Road, and Shahdara, effectively blocking access around Azadi Chowk, Badami Bagh, Bhati Gate, and Minar-e-Pakistan. This has sealed off all major entry and exit points in Lahore, further impeding general traffic.
To prepare for the protests, law enforcement has mobilized heavily, deploying over 10,000 police personnel, including anti-riot units, throughout Lahore to maintain order. Police have been stationed inside the Azadi Flyover and Greater Iqbal Park, where they dispersed students who gathered atop the flyover.
