Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi chaired a key meeting in Islamabad today, where officials gave in-principle approval to a uniform nationwide system for issuing police character certificates.

The decision came after Naqvi visited the National Police Bureau on Tuesday. He announced that police clearance certificates will now be issued directly through this bureau, cutting out much of the old red tape.

For years, applicants faced a long and confusing process. Naqvi said that system is now a thing of the past. The new setup is fully online, faster, and far less complicated than before.

Naqvi didn’t stop there. He also gave directions to set up a standard system for International Driving Permits. This move aims to help Pakistanis who need a valid driving permit while traveling internationally.

Naqvi called the National Police Bureau one of the government’s top priorities. He wants to turn it into an active, modern institution that actually serves the public well.

During his visit, the minister also paid tribute to police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. He said their sacrifices for peace and safety in the country will never be forgotten.

“We can never repay their debt until the Day of Judgment,” Naqvi said. He assured that the government will always stand by the families of these fallen officers.

The Interior Minister also toured the National Police Bureau building, taking note of its overall setup and condition. The Director General of the bureau briefed him in detail on ongoing projects and future plans.

This move is expected to make life easier for thousands of Pakistanis every year. Whether it’s a job abroad, a visa application, or immigration paperwork, a police clearance certificate is often required. Making this process fully digital removes a major hassle for common citizens.
