Urmila Matondkar and Mohsin Akhtar Mir Part Ways After 8 Years of Marriage
The Bollywood star has reportedly filed for divorce, with sources indicating the decision was not mutual.
Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar has reportedly parted ways with her husband, Kashmiri businessman-model Mohsin Akhtar Mir, bringing an end to their eight-year marriage.
According to legal sources, the 50-year-old actress has filed for divorce in a Mumbai court. While the specific reasons behind the split have not been revealed, it appears the decision was one-sided. Sources indicate that Urmila initiated the divorce process about four months ago.
Indian media reports quote an insider as saying, “After much thought, Urmila has decided to end her marriage with Mohsin. She has already filed for divorce. Although the exact cause of the separation remains unclear, it is not a mutual decision.”
Urmila has also unfollowed Mohsin on social media, although he still follows her. The last time Urmila shared a post with Mohsin was on June 23, when she posted an Eid greeting, wishing for peace, love, and compassion.
The couple, who have a 10-year age difference, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Urmila’s Mumbai home in 2016, attended by close family and friends, including fashion designer Manish Malhotra. Urmila ventured into politics in 2019 by joining the Indian National Congress but later moved to the Shiv Sena in 2020.
Her most recent film appearance was in 2018, where she performed in the song “Bewafa Beauty” in the movie *Blackmail*. Additionally, she served as a judge on a children’s dance reality show.
