Arshad Advocates for Government Aid to Athletes, Requesting Relief from Admin Roles

Olympic champion and national hero Arshad Nadeem was warmly welcomed in Karachi, where he was honored by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, and other provincial officials. Nadeem expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support and appreciation, thanking the people of Karachi and the leadership of Sindh for their kindness.

 

In a press conference with Governor Tessori, Arshad Nadeem shared his experience from the javelin event where he won the gold medal. He admitted feeling the pressure during his first throw but credited his determination for the successful second throw that led to his victory.

“After facing some difficulty with the first throw, I reminded myself not to overthink the second one. That very throw earned me the gold medal,” he revealed.

He also discussed the differences between his throwing technique and that of Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra, highlighting how their styles vary on the international stage. “I’m scheduled to meet with the army chief in a few days,” he disclosed.

Arshad Nadeem also announced his plan to distribute 100 laptops to IT students at Governor House, as a gesture of support for education and the youth of Pakistan. “I will train rigorously for upcoming events and strive to make the country even prouder,” he declared.

The athlete also paid a visit to the Chief Minister’s House, where he was warmly greeted by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and members of the provincial cabinet. As a tribute to his achievements, Shah awarded Nadeem Rs50 million, while Minister Nasir Shah announced the gift of a car for Nadeem’s mother as a gesture of the nation’s appreciation.

Sharjeel Inam Memon also offered Nadeem a personalized registration plate of his choice. Additionally, Mayor Murtaza Wahab announced plans to establish an academy in Karachi named after Arshad Nadeem.

During his visit to the Quaid’s Mausoleum, Nadeem expressed his pride in uniting the nation through his victory, describing the medal as a symbol of unity for Pakistan. He called on the government to support athletes by relieving them of administrative duties, allowing them to focus on their sports careers.

He also urged for the reinstatement of departmental teams to enable athletes to dedicate themselves fully to training and achieving success for the nation.
