41 summoned individuals are prominent sports figures,
Islamabad(Mudasser Chudary);The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has instructed renowned athletes to report to their regional offices immediately to resume their services, as per directives from the sports department overseen by former cricket captain Wasim Akram.
Among the 41 summoned individuals are prominent sports figures, including 16 hockey players led by national captain Imad Shakeel Butt, former world snooker champion Muhammad Asif, and former Asian snooker champion Muhammad Sajjad. Notable badminton players like Palusha Bashir, along with several cricketers and footballers, are also among those called back.

The group comprises 2 assistant vice presidents, 2 grade one officers, 4 grade two officers, and sixteen grade three officers, reflecting a diverse range of talent and expertise within the sporting community.

A Committee of the Board for Sports and Culture was constituted to ensure that the desired results are achieved. Sports has found due place in our record which dates back to 1954 when NBP cricket team was formed locally, By the year 1966, Bank had established teams of Cricket, Hockey, Football and other sports were also getting patronage. For the management of NBP sports activities, a Sports Department has been set-up in 1974 that became precedence for other financial institutions, thus setting up the tempo for a big Sport upsurge in the country. These measures not only helped to raise the general standard of various games in Pakistan but also diverted the attention of our youth to take part in healthy and something more creative activities. |
