Eidul Azha Likely on June 17, 2024, Says PMD

Moon Sighting Expected on June 7; Hot Weather Forecasted for Festival

ISLAMABAD: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Eidul Azha is expected to be observed in Pakistan on Monday, June 17, 2024.

The Climate Data Processing Centre of the PMD has indicated a strong possibility of moon sighting on Friday, June 7, 2024.

“The moon will be born on June 6 at 5:38 PM, while sunset is anticipated at 7:20 PM and moonset at 8:30 PM,” a PMD official reported.

“At sunset, the moon’s age in Karachi will be 26 hours and 8 minutes. The moon is likely to be visible for 72 minutes after sunset. For visibility, the moon’s age must be at least 19 hours,” the Climate Data Processing Centre added.

The meteorological department also forecasts hot weather for Eidul Azha.

In preparation for the festival, thousands of sacrificial animals, including cows, bulls, and goats, have arrived at prominent cattle markets in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Karachi.

Despite more than two weeks remaining until Eidul Azha, many people are already looking to purchase sacrificial animals.
