Islamabad: Interior Minister announces Safe City, Special Protection Unit . Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the establishment of the Islamabad Safe City Authority and a Special Protection Unit (SPU) dedicated to foreign nationals. Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of “Mubeen Cottage” for police martyrs’ families near Chuck Bailey on Monday, Minister Naqvi emphasized the need for a positive shift in police attitudes.
Inspector General Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the provision of plots and housing for the families of 64 martyred police officers and jawans. He commended the bravery of these individuals and pledged unwavering support to their loved ones.
The Interior Minister lauded the exemplary performance of IG Islamabad, expressing confidence in the transformative measures underway. Notably, efforts by the National Police Foundation MD Sabir Ahmed and Housing Scheme’s Muhammad Arif were recognized for their commitment to expedite housing projects for the martyrs’ families.
Highlighting key initiatives, Minister Naqvi underscored the establishment of the Safe City Authority to enhance surveillance across Islamabad through advanced camera monitoring. Additionally, a Special Protection Unit will ensure the effective security of foreign nationals.

In collaboration with the Capital Development Authority (CDA), a comprehensive revamping of all police stations is underway to foster a culture of professionalism and accountability. Emphasis is placed on empowering young officers and honoring the experience of seasoned veterans to foster a positive transformation within the force.
