‘Dar in, Aurangzeb out’ PM Shehbaz forms new cabinet committee on common interests

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, and Interior Minister Amir Mehmood will also be part of the committee.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced the formation of a new Cabinet Committee on Common Interests (CCI). Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has been included in the council, while Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb has been excluded.

Previously, there were some developments in the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) as well, where initially Prime Minister himself took charge of the ECC, but later the decision was reversed, and Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb was appointed as the head of the ECC.

According to a report by Business Recorder, Finance Ministers have not always been included in the CCI, but ministers responsible for energy and planning have been regularly included, as these issues are deeply linked with the provinces.

According to sources, a notification for the formation of the new Cabinet Committee on Common Interests has been issued on March 25th.

The eight-member council will have the Prime Minister as its Chairman, with the Chief Ministers of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh as members.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, and Interior Minister Amir Mehmood will also be part of the committee.
