NIH Confirms Mpox Infection in Woman Under Treatment at PIMS
ISLAMABAD: (Health Reporter) – A 41-year-old woman has tested positive for mpox at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, hospital sources said.
According to PIMS administration sources, the woman was brought to the hospital last week after developing skin lesions on her face. Doctors subsequently suspected mpox and sent her samples to the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad for testing.
The NIH later confirmed that the patient had tested positive for the virus.
The woman, who is a resident of Shakrial, a suburban area of Islamabad, is currently being treated in the hospital’s infectious disease control ward.
PIMS sources said her condition is improving and she is responding well to the treatment being provided.
The case has prompted continued monitoring at the hospital as health authorities follow established protocols for suspected and confirmed mpox infections.
