Zelensky Shows Willingness to Meet Putin After Productive Talks With Former US President Trump
Ukrainian-Russia-(Special-Correspondent/Web Desk)-Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Monday that he is ready to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, either in a direct bilateral meeting or a trilateral format including former US President Donald Trump. This statement comes after Zelensky’s high-profile meeting at the White House.
Speaking outside the White House, Zelensky described his conversation with Trump as “productive” and “the best so far.” He presented detailed battlefield maps to show which territories are under Ukraine’s control and emphasized the need for long-term security guarantees.
Zelensky also revealed that Trump quickly contacted Russian officials after their meeting to explore possible diplomatic steps. “Our team did a lot,” Zelensky said, also thanking European leaders who joined discussions in Washington.
Moscow has reportedly shown openness to explore direct talks with Kyiv, while remaining open to a trilateral meeting involving the US. Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine is prepared for bilateral talks with Putin but stressed that peace efforts would continue, despite the conflict lasting more than two years.
He highlighted that securing strong international guarantees would form the “starting point for ending war.” The US and European allies are expected to play a central role in shaping these guarantees.
No date has been set for any future summit, but Zelensky assured that Ukraine would keep working with allies and remain open to negotiations that could eventually bring an end to the conflict.
