Widespread Monsoon Rains Expected Nationwide Until August 18
NDMA Alerts Regions Across Pakistan for More Rains and Thunderstorms Until August 18
ISLAMABAD – The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has predicted further rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy downpours in various parts of Pakistan until August 18.
The forecast indicates more rain is expected in the catchment areas of the Neelum and Jhelum rivers in Azad Kashmir. Additionally, the districts of Barkhan, Bolan, Harnai, Jaffarabad, Kohlu, Musakhel, Nasirabad, Sherani, Sibi, and Zhob in Balochistan, as well as the Mirpur Khas Division, Dadu, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Larkana, Mithi, Matiari, Sanghar, and Sukkur in Sindh, are also likely to experience rainfall, according to a news release.
The anticipated rainfall may lead to urban flooding in several areas and increase water levels in streams and nullahs, particularly in the Neelum and Jhelum rivers in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K). Hilly regions are at risk of landslides, mudflows, and flash floods.
