Why is the cost of flour suddenly so high?

A sudden price jump makes it harder for families to afford their daily bread.

Peshawar – (Special Correspondent) – Families in Peshawar are feeling the pinch as flour prices have jumped suddenly. The cost has gone up by 20 rupees per kilo. A bag of flour now costs 420 rupees, making it harder for people to afford their daily bread.

This price hike started after the Punjab government decided to limit how much flour it sends to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Local dealers also say that some groups are holding onto large amounts of wheat on purpose. This practice, known as hoarding, creates a shortage and forces prices to rise.

There is a warning from shopkeepers: flour could get even more expensive. They urge the local government to talk to Punjab leaders quickly. Without action to allow more flour in and stop hoarding, the price of this basic need will keep climbing.
