US Spy Jet Capable of Tracking Radars Lands in UK Amid Iran Fears
The RC-135U Combat Sent aircraft touched down at RAF Mildenhall as tension with Iran rises, though its arrival does not confirm any coming attack.
US – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – A US spy jet capable of detecting enemy radar systems has landed in Britain. The RC-135U Combat Sent aircraft arrived at RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk, England, as fears grow that Washington may strike Iran again.
Flight tracking data shows the plane crossed the Atlantic on Wednesday. It flew under the call sign COBRA49 and left Portsmouth International Airport in New Hampshire at 1:51 a.m. Eastern Time. The trip lasted six hours and 42 minutes.
The aircraft carries tail number 64-14849. Earlier, it had flown from Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. Both Combat Sent planes owned by the US Air Force are based there.
This jet is not an ordinary spy plane. It uses advanced electronic systems to find, identify and study foreign military radars.
The information it collects helps US forces understand enemy air defence networks. It also helps them plan ways to avoid or beat those defences during operations.
The visit comes at a tense time between Washington and Tehran. Many people are asking if another round of American strikes could follow.
However, President Donald Trump told the Financial Times on Tuesday that the US has no immediate plans to attack Iran. He said American forces are still ready to act if needed.
The plane’s next stop has not been made public. Some observers think it could later move toward the Middle East. Still, its stay in the UK does not prove that an attack is near.
The US Air Force says Combat Sent aircraft gather intelligence both in peacetime and during military operations.
