US Refuses Iran Delegation US Visa Requests Before UN

IRAN vs US – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – The United States has denied the Iran delegation US visa request for several members of President Masoud Pezeshkian’s team, including his communications staff, just days before he is set to attend the UN General Assembly in New York.

Iranian state media called the move unprecedented and accused the Trump administration of blocking access to information. Pezeshkian is expected to be the highest-ranking Iranian official to visit the US since the conflict with Israel began earlier this year.

According to reports from IRNA and Mehr news agency, Pezeshkian will still speak at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, even though key members of his support team have been left behind.

Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei, said the visa denial shows a pattern of silencing voices the US administration does not want heard. He linked it to Washington’s earlier decision to restrict access for some American media outlets as well.

The US has allowed Iran’s core delegation to travel for the summit, but with clear limits in place. Officials confirmed the delegation cannot purchase luxury items while in the country, mirroring restrictions placed on them last year.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is also part of the delegation. He left Iran on Sunday evening with a stopover in Qatar, a country that has been mediating talks between Tehran and Washington.

Iran says it has shared conditions with the US, through Qatar, for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for oil and gas shipments that has remained a flashpoint since the war started. In response, the US has placed its own blockade on Iranian ports.

The visa dispute adds another layer of tension to an already strained relationship, even as both sides continue exchanging messages through Qatar’s mediation.
