Washington: (Web Desk) US Centcom chief discuss Michael “Erik” Kurilla felicitated Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir on assuming charge of his new responsibility. A statement from US Centcom spokesman Col Joe Buccino said that Gen Kurilla spoke via video teleconference with new Pakistan Army Chief.
According to the source, General Munir and General Kurilla have a previously established relationship from General Kurilla s time as CENTCOM Chief of Staff, he said “General Kurilla congratulated General Munir on his new position and the two leaders discussed US-Pakistan security cooperation efforts and strengthening the bilateral relationship,” reads the statement.
Furthermore Gen Munir assumed command of the Pakistan Army on November 29, replacing former COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa. A change of command ceremony was held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
