ISLAMABAD: Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has announced that the popular messaging app will no longer support older Android and iPhone devices starting January 1, 2025. This significant update aims to improve the app’s security, functionality, and user experience by focusing on newer technologies that older phones cannot accommodate.
According to reports, Android devices running KitKat (OS version 4.4) or earlier will no longer be able to use WhatsApp. This includes several popular older models from brands like Samsung, Motorola, HTC, LG, and Sony. Devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S3, Motorola Moto G (1st Gen), HTC One X, and Sony Xperia Z will be among those affected by the change.
The move is part of WhatsApp’s broader effort to stay ahead of the technological curve. By leveraging modern advancements like end-to-end encryption, multi-device support, AI-driven features, and advanced video calling, WhatsApp ensures that its users receive the best experience possible.
