The buildings, which are believed to be residential complexes, erupted in flames after being struck by the drones, with thick clouds of black smoke rising into the sky.
According to reports, all residents of the buildings were safely evacuated, and there were no casualties. Following the attack, a security alert was issued, and the city’s airport temporarily suspended incoming and outgoing flights.
Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, has a population of over 1.3 million people. Tatarstan’s leader, Rustam Minnikhanov, posted on Telegram, saying, “Today, Kazan faced a large-scale drone attack. First, industrial facilities were targeted, and now the enemy is attacking civilians early in the morning.”
Ukraine has not commented on the attacks yet.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that between 7:40 AM and 9:20 AM, Kazan was hit by three waves of drone attacks, with six drones being neutralized or destroyed. However, the exact number of drones involved in the assault has not been disclosed.

Authorities also stated that all major public events in Tatarstan were canceled as a precautionary measure following the attacks.
