UK Hands Over Advanced Hovercraft to Pakistan Navy to Boost Maritime Capabilities

Defence analysts view the move as a key step toward expanding Pakistan’s maritime capabilities in a region of growing strategic importance.

LONDON –: In a significant boost to Pakistan’s maritime defence, the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence has officially handed over three state-of-the-art hovercraft to the Pakistan Navy.

The modern vessels, manufactured by renowned British defence company Griffon Marine Support, were delivered under an agreement finalized in February 2022. The handover ceremony took place in London and was attended by senior officials from the Pakistan High Commission.

These advanced hovercraft are known for their high speed, superior manoeuvrability, and versatility in carrying out a wide range of missions. Their addition is expected to greatly enhance the Pakistan Navy’s operational readiness, especially in logistical and support roles across coastal and shallow-water zones.
