Türkiye, Pakistan Reaffirm Commitment to Stronger Bilateral Cooperation
PM Shehbaz Sharif thanked President Erdoğan for the warm welcome and hospitality
Addressing a joint press conference with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Istanbul, President Erdoğan welcomed the Pakistani delegation and said the two sides discussed bilateral relations, regional developments and global issues. He expressed satisfaction over the pace of ties between the two countries.
The Turkish president said the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding was important for global peace and added that Türkiye would continue to support efforts aimed at peace, development and prosperity. He said Pakistan’s initiatives in these areas were commendable.

Erdoğan said both sides also discussed expanding trade, investment and economic cooperation, adding that relevant ministries would remain in close contact regarding special economic zones.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked President Erdoğan for the warm welcome and hospitality, saying the people of Pakistan and Türkiye share deep emotional bonds. He said Türkiye had always supported Pakistan during wars, natural disasters and other difficult times.
The prime minister recalled Türkiye’s assistance to flood-hit areas, including Muzaffargarh, and its support for social and economic development in earthquake-affected regions.
Shehbaz Sharif said he held comprehensive and constructive talks with President Erdoğan and also met Turkish business leaders at a business-to-business forum. He said both countries were committed to increasing investment in special economic zones and achieving the bilateral trade target of $5 billion.
The prime minister also reiterated Pakistan’s support for Türkiye’s position on Cyprus and thanked Ankara for its clear stance on the Kashmir issue.
