Turkey Warns Israel Over Strikes on Lebanon

Turkey Accuses Israel of Risking New Genocide in Lebanon

ANKARA: (Web Desk) – Turkey voiced serious concern on Saturday over Israel’s continuing military strikes in Lebanon, warning that the conflict could escalate into what it described as a potential “new genocide.” Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said the international community must respond quickly to what Ankara views as ongoing crimes during the expanding Middle East conflict.

Speaking at a press conference, Fidan accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of using the fight against Hezbollah as justification for large-scale attacks. He warned that such operations could have devastating humanitarian consequences if they continue unchecked.

Lebanon was drawn deeper into the regional conflict after Hezbollah launched attacks on Israel following the killing of Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei during joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran. Since then, Lebanon’s health ministry reports that Israeli airstrikes have killed more than 800 people and injured thousands, including women and children.

Turkey has repeatedly accused Israel of committing genocide during its prolonged war in the Gaza Strip, where the Hamas-run health ministry claims tens of thousands of Palestinians have died. Israel has strongly rejected these accusations.

A United Nations investigation in September also raised allegations of genocide in Gaza, while international rights groups have accused Hamas of war crimes during the October 7 attacks. Both Israel and Hamas have denied the claims made against them.
