Trump Threatens Iran Over Qatar Energy Facility Strikes

Middle East War Escalates as Trump Threatens Iranian Gas Field

WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – US President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Iran on Thursday, threatening to “massively blow up” the South Pars gas field unless Tehran halts attacks on Qatari energy infrastructure. Iranian missile strikes recently targeted Qatar’s Ras Laffan LNG facility, causing extensive fires and prompting concerns over global energy supply disruptions, with crude oil prices rising 5 percent.

The escalation follows a three-week-old Middle East conflict sparked by US and Israeli strikes on Iran, which have killed thousands, including Iran’s intelligence chief Esmail Khatib. Iran continues retaliatory missile and drone attacks across the region, while Saudi Arabia has warned of possible military action to protect its energy infrastructure.

Civilians have also suffered: missile debris killed a Thai worker in Israel and three Palestinian women in the West Bank. French President Emmanuel Macron called for a moratorium on attacks targeting civilian infrastructure, while Iranian leadership, including Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, vowed retaliation. Lebanon and Iraq have also been drawn into the conflict, with Hezbollah launching rockets at Israel and pro-Iranian groups temporarily halting attacks on US interests under specific conditions.

US intelligence notes Iran’s government remains “intact but largely degraded”, though Tehran has not resumed nuclear enrichment. The region remains on edge as the war continues to threaten energy markets, civilian lives, and regional stability.
