Trump claims regime change in Iran amid conflict

Trump says US achieved regime change, holds talks with Iran

WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – Donald Trump has claimed that the United States has effectively brought about a regime change in Iran amid the ongoing Gulf conflict.

Speaking at an event at the White House, Trump said Washington is now engaging with what he described as the “right people” in Iran. He added that negotiations are currently underway, with JD Vance and Marco Rubio representing the United States in the talks.

The US president also asserted that American military action, including the deployment of B-2 bombers, had “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear programme. He argued that if Iran had possessed nuclear weapons, it would have already used them.

Despite these claims, Trump acknowledged that Iran’s recent strikes on regional countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates came as a surprise.

He further stated that Iran appears eager to reach an agreement, suggesting that Tehran is willing to abandon ambitions of developing nuclear weapons. “Iran is ready for a deal, and so are we,” Trump said, signaling a potential diplomatic opening despite heightened tensions.
