Trump Claims China Agreed to Halt Iran Arms
US China Ties in Focus Over Iran Arms Claim
WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – US President Donald Trump has claimed that China has agreed not to supply weapons to Iran, citing direct assurances from Chinese President Xi Jinping. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that Beijing was “very happy” with his efforts to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, describing it as a move benefiting both China and the global economy.
Trump said he had written to Xi raising concerns over alleged arms supplies to Iran, and received a response indicating that such transfers were not taking place. He reiterated these claims in an interview, suggesting that China had “essentially” committed to refraining from sending weapons.

The remarks come ahead of a planned summit between Trump and Xi in Beijing, where broader geopolitical and economic issues are expected to be discussed. Trump also struck a mix of cooperative and assertive tones, emphasizing strong US-China coordination while warning of American military strength if required.
Meanwhile, tensions in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz continue to strain relations between Washington and Beijing. China, which is Iran’s largest trading partner and a major buyer of its oil, has criticized US actions in the region, calling them “dangerous and irresponsible” while pledging to play a constructive role in promoting stability.
