Trump Campaign Accuses UK Labour Party of Election Interference

Files Complaint Against Kamala Harris for Allegedly Accepting Foreign Contributions

US-(Special Correspondent/Webdesk): Donald Trump’s campaign has accused British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour Party of engaging in “blatant foreign interference” in the U.S. presidential election. The accusation came after Labour Party volunteers traveled to the U.S. to assist in Kamala Harris’s campaign.

The Trump campaign has lodged a complaint with the Federal Election Commission in Washington, calling for an urgent investigation into what it described as “illegal foreign national contributions” from the UK’s Labour Party, which were allegedly accepted by Harris’s presidential campaign.

The complaint references media coverage and a now-deleted LinkedIn post from Sofia Patel, Labour Party’s head of operations, where she mentioned that “nearly 100” current and former Labour Party staff would be traveling to the U.S. to support Harris’s bid for the presidency.

The complaint letter stated, “Anyone looking for foreign interference in our elections only needs to read that LinkedIn post. It’s happening openly.”

Judge Releases Additional Evidence in Trump Election Case

The centre-left Labour Party, which shares strong ties with the U.S. Democratic Party, took power in July. Since then, Starmer has attempted to foster relations with Trump, even meeting him at Trump Tower during a September trip to New York.

Speaking to reporters on a flight to Samoa, Starmer said he didn’t anticipate the complaint would affect future relations with Trump if he were to win the election on November 5. He noted that Labour volunteers had helped out in U.S. elections for years.

Harris and Trump Deliver Contrasting Messages as Election Nears

“They’re doing it on their own time, as volunteers, and staying with other volunteers while there,” he said. “It’s what they’ve done in past elections and are doing again this year. It’s quite straightforward.”
