Washington/Islamabad: US President Donald Trump has announced a halt to military strikes on Iran after a request from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir.
In a statement shared on social media, President Trump said the decision was made in response to Pakistan’s appeal, signaling a temporary de-escalation in tensions in the region.

He further stated that the ceasefire would be extended until the diplomatic process is completed. “The ceasefire will remain in place until Iran presents its proposal,” Trump said, indicating that ongoing negotiations will determine the next steps.
However, the US president added that he has directed American forces to maintain the blockade and remain fully prepared for any situation, underscoring that military readiness will continue despite the pause in strikes.
The development comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with diplomatic efforts underway to prevent further escalation.
