Tragedy Strikes: Six Killed, Eight Injured in Mari Petroleum MI-8 Helicopter Crash

Investigation Underway Following North Waziristan Incident

KARACHI (Dunya News) – A tragic incident occurred on Saturday when a Mari Petroleum MI-8 helicopter crashed in North Waziristan, resulting in the deaths of six individuals and injuries to eight others.

The injured victims were airlifted to the Thal Cantonment Military Hospital (CMH) for treatment.

Reports indicate that the helicopter was carrying a total of 14 passengers, including three Russian pilots and crew members.

According to a spokesperson for Mari Petroleum, the helicopter crash-landed at the Shewa Oil Field in North Waziristan due to engine failure.

The aircraft was operating transportation services in the Shiva block of Waziristan at the time of the accident.

It has been reported that a technical malfunction occurred during takeoff, leading to the crash, as the tail of the helicopter struck the ground while attempting an emergency landing.
