Tragedy on Rashid Minhas Road: Siblings Killed, Father Critical in Dumper Crash

Justice or Despair?: Families question where to seek justice as deadly roads remain unchecked.

KARACHI: Karachi, the “City of Lights”, witnessed yet another harrowing night, as dreams turned into wreckage and joy into mourning.

A speeding dumper truck crushed a motorcycle on Rashid Minhas Road late last night, killing a brother and sister and leaving their father critically injured.

The victims, 22-year-old Mahnoor and her 14-year-old brother Ali Raza, were returning home from Malir with their father when tragedy struck.

The family was struck by the dumper so violently that the young siblings died instantly, and their father, a cloth trader, is now fighting for his life at Jinnah Hospital with severe head injuries.

He is unconscious and unaware that his children are no longer alive.

Speaking to the media with tears in his eyes, the children’s uncle, Zakir, shared the devastating story.

“We were saving every penny for Mahnoor’s wedding next month. Today, instead of her dowry, we are arranging her burial. Where do we find the strength to endure this? We only want justice.”

His painful words echoed through the hearts of those listening.

According to Zakir, the family was returning from a visit when the fatal collision occurred.

The incident sparked outrage and enraged citizens torched seven dumper trucks and assaulted the driver responsible, who was later handed over to the police.

The SSP Central confirmed the arrest of the driver, along with over ten protestors involved in the violence.

Governor Kamran Tessori later appealed to citizens to avoid taking the law into their own hands.

But the question remains, “Where should the poor cry for justice when roads claim lives and cases remain buried in files?”

This was not just another traffic incident. It was a brutal reminder that in Karachi, life is cheap, and death on the streets has become a disturbingly routine.

Until the grip of law tightens, neither Mahnoor’s soul will rest in peace, nor Ali Raza’s dreams find justice.

Tomorrow, it could be another home. Another dowry replaced by a coffin. Another tear-stained uncle begging for justice on live TV.
