Rawalpindi, October 14, 2025 — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has expressed concern over rising tensions with Afghanistan, warning that it could lead to an increase in terrorism. He emphasized that the solution to terrorism lies in political dialogue rather than military action.
The remarks came during a media briefing by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, Senator Ali Zafar, and Barrister Saif after meeting Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where the PTI founder is currently being held in connection with the Toshakhana case.
According to PTI leaders, this was the first meeting with Imran Khan following political changes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Khan expressed gratitude to all MPAs and praised Ali Amin Gandapur. He reiterated that PTI holds a strong mandate in KP and whoever he nominates will become the chief minister.
Khan congratulated party office-bearers and stressed that the right to govern belongs to those who hold a public mandate. He also expressed hope that the oath-taking process in KP will proceed smoothly.

Touching on the issue of terrorism, Imran Khan stated that PTI condemns all forms of terrorism and seeks a political resolution to the issue. “The army is ours, the martyrs are ours, and there should be no bloodshed of ordinary citizens,” Khan was quoted as saying.
Barrister Saif added that Imran Khan condemned the recent incident in Muridke and called for establishing a model government in KP. He also denounced violence against Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and urged peaceful protest against such actions. Khan reiterated that his family has served in the military and he harbors no hostility towards the armed forces. He also criticized the trend of labeling people as traitors.
Khan reportedly stated that past military operations have not provided a lasting solution to terrorism, and warned that attacks on Afghan territory could further escalate the threat.
When asked about the National Action Plan (NAP), Barrister Gohar Khan noted that confusion is being spread without proper understanding. He clarified that PTI’s press release following the January All Parties Conference referenced the NAP and targeted operations. He added that while he hadn’t reviewed the revised NAP mentioned by DG ISPR, PTI believes that military operations alone cannot resolve the underlying issues.
Gohar Khan also emphasized that Imran Khan has always favored dialogue for the sake of the country, including past communications with former Army Chief General Bajwa.
