Tehran’s Azadi Tower Illuminated in Green and White to Mark Pakistan Day
Ambassador Tipu Highlights Pakistan Day Significance and Cultural Ties with Iran
TEHRAN– The iconic Azadi Tower in Tehran was beautifully lit up in the green and white colors of the Pakistani flag in a special ceremony ahead of Pakistan Day, which will be celebrated on March 23. The event, held on March 18, drew a large crowd, including members of the Pakistan diaspora, students, and media representatives.
The celebration featured a stunning video mapping display on the tower, also known locally as Burj Azadi, which was attended by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tehran, Mudassir Tipu. The ceremony highlighted the flags of both Pakistan and Iran, with national anthems from both countries playing, followed by traditional music representing the federating units of Pakistan. The performance also showcased the country’s diverse landscapes and rich cultural heritage.

Ambassador Tipu, during his speech, emphasized the historical significance of Pakistan’s National Day and expressed gratitude to the Government of Iran for facilitating the celebration. He also highlighted the importance of promoting cultural activities and tourism between Pakistan and Iran, pointing to the shared history of ancient civilizations such as Harappa, Moenjodaro, and Mehrgarh.
This vibrant celebration at the Azadi Tower reflected the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and Iran, symbolizing friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.
