Teacher Shot Dead at School Gate in Khyber

The incident has sparked concern among social and political circles

Khyber: (Hijrat Ali Afridi)-  A government school teacher was shot dead by unidentified assailants outside a school gate in the Bar Qambar Khel area of Bara on Wednesday, police said.

According to officials, Musafar Shah, a Secondary School Teacher (SST) at Government High School Jan Khan Kalay, was targeted by unknown motorcyclists as he arrived at the school. The attackers opened fire at the gate and fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Police reached the site soon after the attack and shifted the body for medico-legal procedures. Law enforcement personnel also recovered empty bullet casings from the crime scene and launched an investigation.

A police official stated that initial information from the victim’s family suggests that Musafar Shah had no known personal enmity or disputes with anyone.

District Police Officer (DPO) Khyber, Waqar, told Daily Destination that a First Information Report (FIR) is registered against unidentified attackers, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend those involved.

The incident has sparked concern among social and political circles, as well as within the teachers’ community. Representatives of teacher associations strongly condemned the killing and demanded immediate action from authorities. They urged police to ensure the swift arrest of the culprits and to provide security for educational staff in the region.

The motive behind the killing remains unknown, and further investigation is ongoing.
