Larkana: A proactive step towards eradicating polio from Larkana Division, a meeting of the Task Force of the Department of Health convened at the Commissioner’s Office under the leadership of Commissioner Ghulam Mustafa Phal. The session, aimed at bolstering the ongoing polio campaign, emphasized the need to address any challenges hindering the immunization teams’ access to communities.
Commissioner Phal stressed the importance of comprehensive reporting, urging officials to highlight instances where staff participation during the campaign falls short. This, he emphasized, would enable higher authorities to take necessary actions swiftly. Additionally, he called upon District Health Officers (DHOs) to provide accurate reports to ensure that no child is missed during the vaccination drive.
Deputy Commissioner Sharjeel Ahmad Chana reiterated the commitment to the World Health Organization (WHO), assuring strict adherence to micro-plans to maximize campaign effectiveness. Through collaborative efforts, he emphasized the goal of ensuring comprehensive coverage and addressing any discrepancies from past campaigns.
Participating via video link, Deputy Commissioners and DHOs from Jacobabad, Shikarpur, and Kashmore Kandhkot districts shared insights into past campaign performances and outlined strategies for upcoming initiatives. They highlighted challenges such as population mobility and pledged to implement measures to reach every child during the forthcoming drive.
Commissioner Phal underscored the importance of transparent communication, urging officials to promptly report any obstacles, including security and transportation issues. He expressed confidence in the collective efforts of all stakeholders and encouraged them to strive for excellence in their respective roles.
Furthermore, Commissioner Phal directed Deputy Commissioner Larkana to ensure that all PPHI centers, private hospitals, and maternity homes adhere to vaccination protocols, thereby ensuring that no child is left unvaccinated.

The upcoming polio campaign, scheduled from April 29 to May 6, 2024, aims to administer vaccines against polio and other preventable diseases. The meeting concluded with a commitment from all stakeholders to work tirelessly towards achieving a polio-free Larkana Division.
In attendance were Additional Commissioner (To) Larkana, Director Health, and other relevant officials, reaffirming the collective resolve to combat polio and safeguard the health of future generations.
