KABUL: Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid has firmly stated that Afghanistan will never hand over Bagram Airbase to the United States. In an online interview with British TV channel Sky News, Mujahid emphasized that Afghans will not allow their land to be controlled by any foreign power.
He revealed that discussions have taken place between Kabul and Washington regarding reopening embassies. Mujahid also mentioned that several countries, including Russia, have unofficially recognized the Taliban government, although formal recognition has yet to be granted.

It is worth noting that during the 2021 withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan, the US handed over Bagram Airbase to Afghan authorities after 20 years of control. However, former President Trump had announced intentions to reclaim the base and left behind weapons, threatening serious consequences if Afghanistan did not comply.
