Sugar price reaches Rs229 per kg across country
The sugar prices rose to Rs229 per kg across parts of the country on Friday, according to figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
The PBS reported an increase of Rs19 per kg in Quetta, where the price rose from Rs210 to Rs229 per kg. It said that the maximum price in Peshawar stood at Rs200 per kg, while Karachi and Islamabad recorded maximum prices of Rs195 per kg. In Rawalpindi, the maximum price reached Rs190 per kg.
Moreover, the PBS also said a fall of Rs2.01 in the average national price over the past week. The average price dropped to Rs185.47 per kg from the earlier level of Rs187.48.
It is pertinent to note that one year ago, the average national price stood at Rs132.24 per kg.
