Storm System 1200 km from Karachi Set to Diminish into Low-Pressure Area
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has announced that a storm system is situated approximately 1,200 km from Karachi and is forecasted to gradually weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area in the coming hours.
This storm is currently moving west-northwest and is expected to affect nearby regions.
A depression located over the West-central Arabian Sea has shifted west-northwest over the past ten hours. At present, it is positioned at about 16.2°N latitude and 61.0°E longitude, approximately 1,150 km southwest of Karachi, 1,080 km southwest of Ormara, and 1,010 km south of Gwadar. Additionally, it lies 520 km southeast of Masirah, Oman, and 740 km east of Salalah, Oman.
Squally winds with speeds between 30 to 40 km/hour and gusts up to 50 km/hour are anticipated near the center of the system. As a result, rough sea conditions are expected to persist until tomorrow. Fishermen in Balochistan are urged to exercise caution and avoid deep-sea fishing until the evening.
Currently, there are no immediate threats to coastal areas of Pakistan from this weather system.
On Tuesday, most districts in Sindh are predicted to experience hot and dry weather. However, Karachi, Dadu, Thatta, Sujawal, and Hyderabad may face gusty winds, dust storms, and thunderstorms with potential rainfall in certain areas.
