SRK clinches maiden National Film Award after 33 years

NEW DELHI: After a wait of more than three decades, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has won his first National Film Award. The 71st National Film Awards ceremony was held in New Delhi, where President Draupadi Murmu presented the honours to the winners.
Shah Rukh Khan received the Best Actor award for his performance in Jawan (2023), marking a milestone in his 33-year-long career.
Sharing the spotlight, Vikrant Massey was jointly awarded Best Actor alongside Shah Rukh Khan for his powerful role in 12th Fail. Meanwhile, Rani Mukerji won Best Actress for her moving performance in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.

Known as the “King of Bollywood,” Shah Rukh Khan began his film career in 1992 with Deewana. Over the years, he has delivered iconic performances in classics such as Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Chak De! India, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
Despite numerous awards in India and recognition abroad, he had never secured a National Film Award until now
In Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan played a double role and appeared in seven different looks, showcasing his versatility and charisma. The film not only won critical acclaim but also resonated strongly with audiences, making it one of the standout releases of 2023.
