Solar System Prices Rise Sharply Before New Budget Announcement

5kW to 15kW Solar Systems Become More Expensive

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Solar panel prices have risen sharply across Pakistan ahead of the upcoming fiscal year budget, with market sources reporting significant increases across multiple system categories.

The cost of solar systems ranging from 5 kilowatts to 15 kilowatts has increased by around Rs200,000 overall, reflecting a broader upward trend in the solar market.

A 5-kilowatt solar system is now being sold at approximately Rs650,000 after an increase of Rs150,000. Similarly, the price of a 7-kilowatt system has reached Rs825,000 following a Rs200,000 hike.

For larger installations, the price of a 10-kilowatt system has risen from Rs900,000 to around Rs1.1 million, while a 12-kilowatt system has reached a record level of approximately Rs1.25 million.

The 15-kilowatt solar system has also become more expensive, rising from Rs1.3 million to about Rs1.45 million. These rates apply specifically to on-grid solar systems.

For off-grid systems, additional costs apply due to battery requirements, which significantly increase the overall installation expense.

The sudden increase has raised concerns among consumers and installers, as solar energy demand continues to grow amid rising electricity costs and economic uncertainty.
