SNGPL’s Ongoing Crackdown Leads to Significant Disruptions in Gas Pilferage Networks

LAHORE: In a relentless effort to curb gas theft, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has intensified its crackdown across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, resulting in the disconnection of 347 illegal connections and imposing fines totaling Rs 3.47 million.
In Lahore, the regional team took decisive action by disconnecting 13 connections involved in the illegal use of gas and an additional 23 connections utilizing compressors for unauthorized purposes. In Rawalpindi & Islamabad, the team disconnected 98 connections engaged in the illegal use of gas, leading to the imposition of fines amounting to Rs 0.30 million against gas theft cases.
Moving to Multan, the vigilant team disconnected 25 connections for illegal gas usage and an additional 25 connections employing compressors for unauthorized purposes, with a fine of Rs 0.050 million imposed against gas theft cases.
In Peshawar and Karak, SNGPL’s determined efforts resulted in the disconnection of 93 connections due to direct and illegal gas use, accompanied by a substantial fine of Rs 3.05 million against gas theft cases. Meanwhile, in Mardan, the regional team disconnected 04 connections due to the illegal use of gas and another 12 connections for using compressors inappropriately.

Sahiwal witnessed a crackdown with three connections disconnected for compressor use, and in Faisalabad, three connections were severed for similar violations. In Sheikhupura, the regional team disconnected 47 connections for illegal gas use, with a fine of Rs 0.03 million booked against gas theft cases. Additionally, in Sargodha, one connection was disconnected due to the illegal use of gas.
This relentless crackdown by SNGPL not only ensures the fair distribution of gas resources but also sends a strong message to those attempting to engage in illegal practices. The fines imposed serve as a deterrent, highlighting the commitment of SNGPL to maintain the integrity of the gas supply system and protect the interests of law-abiding consumers.
