SNGPL Intensifies Crackdown on Gas Theft, Disconnects 69 Illegal Connections Across Punjab, KP, and Islamabad

Lahore(Special Correspondent / Webdesk): In an ongoing effort to curb gas theft, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has ramped up enforcement, disconnecting 69 illegal gas connections across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, with fines totaling Rs 3.1 million imposed on offenders.

In Lahore, SNGPL teams disconnected 14 illegal connections, imposing fines of Rs 0.95 million. Faisalabad saw 10 connections severed, with a penalty of Rs 0.21 million. In Sheikhupura, three illegal connections were disconnected, and gas thieves were fined Rs 1.11 million.

Additional actions included disconnecting 11 illegal connections in Bahawalpur due to compressor use, while Multan teams disconnected one illegal connection and penalized 12 users for compressor misuse. Sahiwal authorities imposed fines of Rs 0.21 million in gas theft cases, while in Mardan, 18 illegal connections were disconnected, with fines amounting to Rs 0.66 million.

The intensified crackdown is part of SNGPL’s broader efforts to combat illegal gas consumption and ensure compliance across its distribution network.
