SNGPL Cracks Down on Gas Theft: 61 Connections Disconnected

Rs 2.7 Million Fine Imposed Across Punjab, KP, and Islamabad

Lahore_Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has launched a series of raids across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Islamabad, disconnecting 61 illegal gas connections and imposing Rs 2.7 million in fines. This crackdown is part of SNGPL’s ongoing efforts to combat gas theft and ensure the fair distribution of natural resources.

The raids were conducted by SNGPL teams in various cities. In Lahore, 11 connections were disconnected for illegal gas usage and 14 for the use of gas compressors, with fines totaling Rs 0.99 million. In Faisalabad, one connection was cut off for illegal gas use, with Rs 0.02 million in fines. Sheikhupura saw a fine of Rs 0.79 million imposed.

In Multan, seven connections were terminated for illegal gas usage, and five disconnected for compressor use. Sahiwal had one illegal connection cut. Rawalpindi saw two connections disconnected for illegal usage and four for compressor use. In KP, Peshawar and Karak disconnected four illegal connections, imposing Rs 0.276 million in fines. Mardan disconnected four illegal connections, imposing Rs 0.4 million in fines.

Gujranwala terminated two connections for illegal gas usage, one for compressor use, and imposed Rs 0.27 million in fines. Bahawalpur disconnected one illegal connection and four for compressor use.

This crackdown is part of SNGPL’s ongoing efforts to combat gas theft. The company conducts regular raids and inspections to identify and disconnect illegal connections. SNGPL urges the public to report suspicious activity, emphasizing its commitment to providing safe and reliable gas supply.

The crackdown serves as a warning to those involved in gas theft, highlighting the importance of adhering to the law and utilizing natural resources responsibly.
