Sindh, Federal Ministers Agree to Launch M6 Motorway Project from Karachi

306-Kilometer High-Speed Road to Connect Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur, Enhancing Trade and Transportation

Karachi-(Special Correspondent): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Communications Aleem Khan have agreed to move forward with constructing the M6 Motorway, which will connect Karachi to Sukkur through Hyderabad.

The decision came during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House, where both leaders discussed potential public-private partnership models for the project.

The planned motorway will cover 306 kilometers, with six lanes designed as a high-speed toll road to improve transportation efficiency and safety. This project aims to facilitate port traffic flow and strengthen connectivity between key cities.

Previously, a partnership for the motorway’s construction had been signed in December 2022, but due to delays, the agreement was canceled. The new proposal emphasizes starting the motorway from Karachi to address logistical demands more effectively.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also urged the federal government to transfer control of the Lyari Expressway to provincial authorities for upgrades, along with discussing several other infrastructure projects awaiting action in the region.

High-ranking officials from both provincial and federal governments participated in the meeting and will continue exploring cooperative efforts for infrastructure development in Sindh.
