Sherry Rehman Hails SCO Summit as Crucial for Pakistan’s Foreign Policy Revival

Sherry Rehman Highlights Importance of SCO Summit for Pakistan’s Diplomatic and Economic Growth

ISLAMABAD, Oct 14 (APP): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sherry Rehman expressed her excitement about the upcoming SCO summit, calling it a significant honor for Pakistan. She emphasized that the event would strengthen regional relationships and enhance Pakistan’s foreign policy, as global confidence in the country continues to grow.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with a private news channel, Rehman underlined the critical role the summit could play in repairing diplomatic relations, which had been strained in previous years.

“The SCO Summit offers Pakistan a vital platform to expand economic ties with key member nations like China and Russia, positioning the country as a hub for trade and transit and fostering deeper economic integration within the region,” she remarked.

Rehman also highlighted the geopolitical advantages, noting that by engaging with the SCO, Pakistan could elevate its international profile, improve security collaborations, and promote regional connectivity.

She further pointed out the significance of India’s participation, stating that it presents a meaningful opportunity for dialogue. “India’s presence alongside Pakistan at the summit is a major development and could pave the way for constructive discussions on unresolved issues,” she said, expressing optimism for a more collaborative engagement between the two nations.

Rehman also hoped that this time, India would approach the summit with maturity, in contrast to missed opportunities during past conferences.

She called upon Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to recognize the importance of the summit and act with responsibility, noting that the SCO, founded by China and Russia in 2001, addresses vital concerns related to politics, economics, international security, and defense.
