Shehbaz Balochistan Dialogue: PM Vows To Resolve Grievances

PM Shehbaz calls for peaceful talks and fair resource sharing to address Balochistan's longstanding concerns

Pakistan: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for a grand Shehbaz Balochistan dialogue to tackle the province’s long-standing issues.

Speaking at the Balochistan National Workshop in Islamabad on Friday, he said his government is ready to listen and act on genuine complaints.

The premier said such matters should be settled through peaceful, civilised talks. He also welcomed anyone willing to give up violence and rejoin the mainstream, calling it a path worth encouraging.

Gwadar Port came up as a key point in his speech. PM Shehbaz said Balochistan’s growth is tied directly to Pakistan’s overall progress, making the province central to the country’s future.

He shared details of a major solar energy push too. The federal government put in Rs40 billion toward a Rs70 billion project, helping convert over 20,000 farm tube wells in Balochistan to solar power.

Looking back at the 2010 National Finance Commission talks, the PM noted all four provinces had agreed to raise Balochistan’s funding. Punjab alone contributes Rs11 billion every year, which he described as a sign of true brotherhood between provinces.

He reaffirmed that Balochistan deserves a bigger role in development and welfare programs. Its share in many schemes already sits above what its population would normally require.

Talking about the province’s mineral wealth, PM Shehbaz said these resources belong first to the people of Balochistan. He stressed that federal and provincial cooperation is key to developing them properly, with locals benefiting before the rest of the country.

He also acknowledged real challenges the province faces, especially its huge size, which makes delivering schools, hospitals and roads harder. These gaps, he said, need mutual consultation and fair resource sharing to fix.

Answering a question, the PM confirmed several Daanish Schools are nearing completion across Balochistan, aimed at giving deserving children access to quality education.
