Shahid Afridi Criticizes India’s Indecision on Champions Trophy Participation

Afridi Blasts India’s Indecision on Champions Trophy Venue

Pakistan(Sports Reporter):Shahid Afridi Criticizes India’s Indecision on Champions Trophy Participation. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has lashed out at the Indian team’s indecision regarding the venue for the upcoming Champions Trophy. Speaking to the media in Karachi on Monday, Afridi stated that if India is unwilling to play in Pakistan, they should refrain from participating in the tournament altogether.

Despite these uncertainties, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) remains resolute in its stance to host all matches of the Champions Trophy within Pakistan. Preparations are underway, with the board planning to hold matches across three cities: Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. The PCB is making significant efforts to ensure the successful organization of the tournament, focusing on infrastructure, security, and hospitality to accommodate international teams and fans.

Sources suggest that if India chooses not to travel to Pakistan, Pakistan may reciprocate by not participating in the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

Afridi’s Stance:

Afridi emphasized that Pakistan has always been willing to play against India, even in challenging conditions. He pointed out that Pakistan has traveled to various Indian cities for matches in the past, despite facing security threats. Afridi believes that India should reciprocate and commit to playing in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.

The PCB’s stance is clear: if India doesn’t come to Pakistan, Pakistan won’t go to India. This reciprocal approach demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to hosting international cricket events and its willingness to stand firm in the face of opposition.

This development may have implications for future cricket events, including the 2026 T20 World Cup. If Pakistan decides not to participate, it could impact the tournament’s dynamics and team compositions.
