Security Official Martyred, 4 Injured in Terrorist Attack on Kurram Convoy

Kurram DPO Assures Public, Says Situation Under Control After Convoy Attack

KURRAM: A terrorist attack on a convoy of relief goods in the Char Diwal area near Bagan in Lower Kurram resulted in the martyrdom of a security official and left four others injured, local authorities confirmed. The attack also caused significant damage to three vehicles in the convoy.

In retaliation, security forces launched a counterattack, killing six terrorists and injuring at least ten others, according to district administration reports. The attackers also looted several vehicles and set some on fire before retreating.

Gunship helicopters were deployed to the area to provide air support as security forces worked to secure the convoy and neutralize the militants. Heavy firing was reported in the region as the operation continued.

Witnesses indicated that more than 70 vehicles had entered Kurram earlier in the day, many of which became targets of the attackers. The convoy’s drivers were reportedly detained by the militants before the vehicles were looted.

Kurram District Police Officer (DPO) assured the public that the situation was under control, with half of the convoy already sent back to Tal. He further stated that security forces and police responded quickly to the gunfire and that the authorities would ensure no militants escaped justice.
