Security Forces Conducted an Intelligence Based Operation in Karak District

Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against Law enforcement agencies as well as innocent civilians.

Islamabad: On 2 March 2024, security forces conducted an intelligence based operation in Karak District, on reported presence of terrorists.

During the conduct of operation, intense fire exchange took place between own troops and the terrorists, as a result of which three terrorists were sent to hell, while four terrorists got injured.

Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against Law enforcement agencies as well as innocent civilians.

Sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area. Locals of the area appreciated the operation and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism.

Karak District  is a district in Kohat Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. It is situated to the south of Kohat District and on the north side of Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts on the main Indus Highway between Peshawar and Karachi – it is 131 km from the provincial capital Peshawar. It gained a district status in 1982, prior to which it was part of Kohat District.

It is natively inhabited by the Khattak Pashtun tribe who make the majority of the population.

At the time of the 2017 census the district had 72,207 households and a population of 705,362. Karak had a sex ratio of 1025 females per 1000 males and a literacy rate of 63.75% – 84.37% for males and 44.41% for females. 51,086 (7.24%) lived in urban areas. 30.82% of the population were under 10 years of age. 285 (0.04%) people in the district were from religious minorities. Pashto was the predominant language, spoken by 99.16% of the population.
